Pakistan’s faces a major issue that is lack of health services provided to the local population. The public health systems are overcrowded with lack of resources and staff. Moreover these hospitals and clinics are mostly based in big cities and often times the rural and small cities are neglected of their right to health services.\u00a0<\/p>

Many people cannot afford to travel to cities to be treated and end up using traditional and old school medicines or none at all. This leads to a high number of deaths and rise in critical sicknesses and diseases in such communities.\u00a0<\/p>

STEP decided to take initiative and with the help of other local and international NGOs, we were able to set up several small health camps in two different rural areas. The camps principal aim was to help women and their children as they are a group which are affected the most, however the camps were inclusive and everyone who needed help were provided. Each camp consisted of a doctor, a nurse with all the basic equipment such as ECG machine, blood pressure machine and blood sugar level kits. The camps also provided the people with free of cost drugs that the doctors had prescribed.\u00a0<\/p>

The camps had a huge impact as many women reported that they and their children were getting better of the different sicknesses and the communities were very appreciative. Unfortunately the camps are no longer in function due to lack of funds.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
