Pakistan is a country that is vulnerable to floods due to geographical reasons and lack of preventive infrastructure. Many areas of southern Punjab and Sindh province suffer the most damages when the monsoonal rainfall hits.\u00a0<\/p>

Even though all the neighbourhoods and communities suffer from the natural disaster, the slum and poor communities in these areas suffer worse and takes them years to rebuild themselves up again. People lose their houses as water washes and breaks down walls and all the things in their homes. Livestock is the main source of income in such areas. Most of the animals are killed due to drowning and other fatal injuries. The aftermath is way worse because families suffer from waterborne diseases and other sicknesses caused by viruses and bacteria. Famine also becomes a major problem due to lack of government support and loss of crops and livestock.<\/p>

STEP has intervened on several occasions when the floods have hit Pakistan. Due to the limited financial resources our support has been we believe insubstantial. However, we try to do as much as we possibly can. This includes tents for shelter, basic food items, first aids kits, basic hygienic kit etc.<\/p>
